How to Get & Stay Motivated- 5 tips!!
Share
Happy New Year!!! Are you feeling fired up for 2025?
At this point you have probably set your goals & you are ready to go and smash them so we have written down some tips that will help you stick to them!
1. Set Clear & Realistic Goals
Like anything in training (& life!) you need to break big goals into smaller, manageable steps. Having specific milestones makes it easier to track progress and keeps you motivated as you accomplish each one. Try not to just focus on the end goal, but instead think about realistic changes you can make to start moving towards it. For an example: I am going to start working out 5 days a week. so the end goal sounds great but let’s be realistic… if you start training 5 days a week you are firstly going to get tired, your muscles are going to be sore, you might have to miss a day due to life (busy/tired/ other commitments) & ultimately this will actually leave you feeling less motivated. So break it down…start with one day a week. Set the day, time, activity & focus on keeping that as consistent as possible for a few weeks and then add on a day & so on!
2. Make Habits
DISCIPLINE will beat motivation EVERY TIME!!!! Set up a routine that supports your goals. Whether it’s a morning workout or an evening stretch, routines make it easier to stay consistent. To create habits you first need a TRIGGER… GOAL: Workout 1x a week TRIGGER: Alarm is set for the time you workout- this will be your trigger. HABIT HELPER: Lay your workout clothes & trainers out ROUTINE: My morning routine goes…alarm, electrolytes & pre workout snack, clothes on. GO GO GO! Keeping this routine consistent makes the habit build.
3. Treat Yo'self
To create consitiency there MUST be a reward!! For some people the reward of feeling good after working out is enough to keep them showing up & working out. For ALOT of people this is just not the case. We know we will feel better afterwards, we know we are going to feel good, stronger & happier but it is NOT ENOUGH! So we need a reward. We are all different but some examples could be:
1) Treat yourself to a delicious coffee in the gym cafe after (try to avoid the cake 😜 )
2) When I hit 10 sessions I will buy a cute new workout fit (I’ve heard Olra Activewear is good
3) Ultimately find a reward that you know will help you keep up the habit!
4. Manifestation
Spend a few minutes each day imagining how you’ll feel and what life will be like when you achieve your goal. Visualization can inspire and give you a clear purpose to keep going. if visualisation isn’t your thing you could try writing down a couple of things every morning that you aregoing to do that day to help you reach your goal.
5. Find an Accountability Buddy
Sharing your goals with someone you trust, whether it’s a friend, family member, or mentor, and establishing regular check-ins creates a sense of accountability that helps you stay committed to your objectives. This ongoing support not only helps you stay on track but also provides a powerful boost of encouragement and positivity when your motivation starts to dip, reminding you that you’re not alone in your journey and that someone else is invested in your progress. If you prefer training / working out alone then I would highly recommend hiring a coach. Working with someone who inspires you can really help keep you focused & committed to achieving your goals.
